本研究では超高齢者におけるCKDの臨床的意義および診断バイオマーカーを明らかにする目的で、85歳以上の超高齢者542名からなるコホート(本邦最大規模)を確立した。血清シスタチンC濃度、クレアチニン濃度から推定糸球体濾過率(eGFR)を計算した結果、いずれも微量アルブミン尿、貧血、副甲状腺ホルモンと関連したが、血清シスタチン濃度によるeGFRのみが頸動脈プラークと有意な関連を示し、超高齢者のCKDのバイオマーカーおよび心血管性疾患予測因子として有用である可能性が示された。
