ヒト子宮内膜の上皮細胞層は妊娠の場としての子宮内腔を防御する重要なバリアであるが、着床における受精卵の侵入によって一時的に破壊される。その修復機構は必須であるが、機構は知られていない。本研究によって、その機構にカドヘリン分子の変化を中心とした上皮間充織転換という細胞の運動能を変化させる現象が関与していることを明らかにした。生殖医療戦略に有益な妊娠成立の初期機構の一端の解明である。
