内部に強磁性体微粒子を含んだ懸濁液は, 磁性流体や磁気粘性流体(MR流体)と呼ばれている. これらの流体に磁場を印加すると, 内部の微粒子が集まって磁力線の方向に微粒子の凝集構造が(クラスター)が形成される. 磁性流体やMR流体は黒色不透明であるので, クラスターを通常の方法では調べる事は難しい. そこで, 本研究はでは流体中の超音波伝播特性が磁場によってどのように変化するかを調べ, 磁場とクラスターの関係を検討した.
