ヒトの言語運用にとって重要な機能である再結合般化の基礎的・段階的なメカニズムについて、実験的に検討した。弁別訓練と逆転学習を組み合わせた実験により、コモンマーモセットにおいて、単語の組み合わせや文章構成の前提能力となる単一・複合要素の弁別が可能であること、その弁別は組み合わせたことのない要素へ般化すること、が示された。この知見を活用することにより、言語運用に困難がある場合や、損傷を受けた場合の習得法開発が期待できる。
