日本におけるうつ病患者に対して薬物療法に加えて認知行動療法を実施した場合(併用療法)の費用対効果および財政的インパクトを、日本人の臨床データを用いて推計した。その結果、併用療法は、薬物療法に比べて費用対効果的であることが明らかとなった。一方で、うつ病は有病率が高い疾患であるため、その財政的インパクトは400億円を超える可能性が示唆された。今後は、この財政的インパクトが妥当であるかの検証とともに、どのような患者に優先的に認知行動療法を実施すべきか、また認知行動療法を受けられない患者にどのような代替的な介入が可能かといった点の検証が求められる。
