ヒトiPS細胞から分化させた細胞のうち、腹膜中皮細胞特異的と考えられたFlk1/HBME-1陽性細胞をソートした。この細胞の形態は腹膜中皮細胞に極めて類似していた。次に免疫不全マウスを用いて、被嚢性腹膜硬化症(EPS)モデルマウス作成した。メチルグリオキサールを腹腔内投与することによりEPSモデルマウスを作成した。再生細胞１×105個/回/日を1日1回5日間連日移植した。細胞移植を行った群と細胞移植を行わなかった群との間で腹膜肥厚を比較検討した。腹膜厚に明らかな有意差を認めず、細胞移植が効果的であるとはいえなかった。
