本研究では、細胞周期制御分子Cdh1と細胞分化・悪性腫瘍における偽性分化との関連に着目し、造血器を実験の舞台として選択し研究を行った。申請者はこれまでにCdh1造血器特異的不活化マウスの作製に成功し、正常造血細胞ではCdh1不活化により遺伝子毒性ストレスに対する脆弱性が惹起されることを証明した。申請者はその後、Cdh1の造血器悪性腫瘍における機能にも着目し、B細胞性急性リンパ性白血病以下B-ALL/LBL)モデルマウスの悪性腫瘍細胞においてもやはりCdh1不活化による細胞脆弱性が引き起こされる可能性を示唆する現象を観察した。また、これらの悪性腫瘍細胞を二次移植・三次移植するとその予後が一次移植群と逆転した。
