遺伝子の肺特異的翻訳阻害モデルをマウスで作製することに成功した。具体的にはサーファクタント蛋白を担体としてVEGF siRNAをマウス鼻腔より投与することで肺気腫様の形態学的変化を得ることができ、この変化がVEGFタンパク発現の低下と相関していることやDCI投与により救済できるということが明らかとなった。肺気腫の病態におけるVEGFの役割や肺気腫治療開発の第一歩となる可能性がある。
