悪性胸膜中皮腫は、治療抵抗性の悪性腫瘍であり、新規治療法の開発が求められている。これまで、スタチンの悪性胸膜中皮腫に対するin vitroでの抗腫瘍効果に関する報告はあるが、その詳細な作用機序については検討されていない。我々は、スタチンがin vivoで悪性胸膜中皮腫に対して抗腫瘍効果を持つこと、またオートファジー誘導がその機序に関与していることを明らかにした。
