近年中国で新たに公開された档案(文書)史料や内部資料、実務経験者や中国人研究者へのヒアリングを駆使し、中華人民共和国建国以降の政策決定過程を実証的に分析し、学術雑誌等で研究成果を公表した。メンバーの諸研究は、今日多元化が進む中国の政策決定過程の諸相を描き出しただけでなく、政策決定過程に関与する諸アクターを歴史の中に位置づけた。これらの実証分析を踏まえ、中国の政策決定過程分析のためのモデルの検討を行った。その結果、中国の政策決定過程分析には多元主義の視角がますます重要になってきており、大国化する中国にとって特に国際要因が無視できないものとなってきていることが分かった。
