行為に関する心的事象と倫理学の諸概念や諸問題の関係が明らかにされた。とくに、次のような注目すべき成果を得た。(1)後悔という道徳的心情と道徳的正当化の間には、従来は見落とされがちだった不一致がある。(2)非難妥当性の根拠として、実践理性による選択の促進があげられる。(3)信念が感情的側面をもつ。(4)ある種の過去の欲求が幸福に関する欲求実現説の反証になる。(5)4の論点は、生前の欲求の死後における実現が幸福に貢献するかという問題と密接に関係する。
