癌織中で不均一に生じる変異を、MALDI-IMSを利用して同定すると同時に可視化することで、変異の局在を二次元情報として把握することが可能である。我々は乳癌におけるintrinsic subtype別の代謝活性の違いを明らかにすることを目的として、サブタイプごとにCE-MSおよびMALDI-IMSを用いたメタボローム解析を行い、特にトリプルネガティブ乳癌における非常に特徴的な差異を検出することが可能であった。今後はこれら代謝解析の構築により、これらサブタイプ間の相違を利用した個別治療が可能となると考えられる。
