1型糖尿病の完治を目指すには、自己の膵β細胞の分化と自己免疫の制御の双方が不可欠である。本研究は、自己免疫の制御に、CXCR3というケモカイン受容体を発現した免疫制御性T細胞(Hybrid Treg)が、1型糖尿病の発症を効率的に制御することを明らかにした。さらに、1型糖尿病患者末梢血リンパ球のHybrid Tregは加齢性の増加が少なく、HLA DR9を有する場合にインスリンペプチド特異的なIL-10産生性が低いことも見出した。
