認知症ないしその前段階の軽度認知障害患者と、頭部外傷や脳血管障害等による高次脳機能障害者の自動車運転の安全性の指標の確立を試みた。通常用いられている認知機能検査とともに、新たに考案した有効視野計測課題(VFIT)の標準化を行い、さらに実車による評価を実施したところ、VFIT得点と実車得点とは関連していた。これらの結果をもとに、認知症および高次脳機能障害における運転安全性の指針に関する一般向け冊子を作製した。
