人工酸素運搬体であるヘモグロビン小胞体を肺移植に応用すべく、マウス肺切除モデルでの小胞体輸液の効果の確認、マウス及びラット摘出肺潅流回路の作製、ブタ肺移植モデルでのデータの収集を行った。マウス肺切除モデルでは、肺切除という外科的侵襲下、低肺機能のマウス体内で有効に機能し、術後の回復に影響を与えないことが確認できた。外科手術でもヘモグロビン小胞体が安全に使用できることが明らかになった。摘出肺還流回路の作製ではマウス或いはラット摘出肺をヘモグロビン小胞体で還流する回路を作製した。肉眼的に肺外観に大きな変化を生じず、病理学的にも評価した。ブタ肺移植モデルでは全身麻酔下にドナー左肺を移植するモデルを作成しグラフト肺の機能を評価する手技を確立し、データ収集を行った。
