K12-DsRedレポーターコンストラクトを作成し、マウス角膜上皮細胞株およびマウスiPS細胞に導入、染色体に同コンストラクトが組み込まれた安定株を得た。既報にある、バルジ幹細胞をK12陽性細胞に分化転換する様な活性は、ヒト角膜輪部繊維芽細胞の培養上清中には確認できず、また、K12-DsRedレポーターの発現を促進するような活性も確認できなかった。一方で、マウスiPS細胞からK12陽性細胞を誘導することに成功した。しかし、マウス角膜上皮細胞から分離培養した上皮細胞株と同様にK12陽性の特性を維持したまま培養することは難しく、角膜上皮細胞の特性を誘導・維持するためには、何らかの因子が必要であることが改めて確認できた。
