近年の再生医療において複雑な三次元臓器の再生技術が求められている。特に、毛細血管を含む三次元複合組織の再生が課題であり、本研究は生体工学の立場から三次元肝細胞組織に毛細血管を導入する血管化の技術を検討した。具体的には、微細加工技術によって作製したマイクロ流体デバイスを用いることで細胞周囲の微小環境(流れ、細胞配置など)を時空間的に調節し、肝細胞組織と毛細血管の相互作用を明らかにし、三次元肝組織の血管化に重要な因子を見出した。
