よく知られているように、花粉の微粒子は、水面上を不規則に動き、拡散する。通常の拡散では、平均2乗変位が時間に対して線形に増大し、その比例係数(拡散係数)で拡散が特徴づけられる。本研究では、非平衡非定常現象の中でも特に異常拡散(平均2乗変位が線形に増大しない拡散)の数理的な側面に注目し、異常拡散を示す粒子の動きを1次元の写像力学系によりモデル化し、拡散を特徴付ける長時間平均量に関する分布極限定理(無限測度エルゴード理論)を示した。これらの結果により、一分子測定による実験で見られるような拡散係数の大きな揺らぎは無限測度エルゴード理論と関係する事が明らかになった。
