ヒト変形性関節症(OA)関節軟骨組織から単離・培養したOA軟骨細胞を用いて、monolayer wound assayにより遊走能を評価し、OA病態に関与するサイトカイン・増殖因子の遊走に与える作用を検討した。血小板由来増殖因子(PDGF)と血管内皮増殖因子(VEGF)が遊走を促進する一方、インターロイキン(IL)-1βとTGF-βには遊走抑制効果が観察された。VEGFによる遊走促進には、ERKによるシグナル伝達とMMPファミリー分子の発現誘導が関与しており、IL-1βによる遊走抑制にはプロスタグランジンE2の産生が関わっている可能性が示唆された。
