Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori)感染が鉄欠乏性貧血を誘導する、という臨床報告が近年多数発表されている。鉄は積極的な排出系を持たないことから、我々は鉄欠乏の原因が唯一の鉄吸収の場である十二指腸の異常にあると考え、十二指腸上皮細胞膜に存在する鉄輸送体と細胞外鉄調節ホルモンであるヘプシジンの挙動をマウスモデルを用いて検討した。結果として、感染群と非感染群の間において、鉄輸送体の発現や調節因子の発現は同等であり、十二指腸以外の異常によって鉄欠乏性貧血が発症する事が示唆された。
