BoxAタンパクがHMGB1と競合的に受容体に結合するためHMGB1の拮抗剤として機能すると考えられている。そこでAdex-BoxAを肝細胞に導入し、BoxAタンパクの産生を確認した。次に、ラット小腸虚血再灌流障害に対するHMGB-1 BoxA遺伝子導入治療効果の検討を行うべく、ラット小腸虚血再灌流障害モデルを作成した。実際にラット小腸虚血再灌流障害モデルにAdex-BoxAを投与し、今後門脈に投与する予定である。また、当教室ではラット急性肝不全モデルでHMGB-1吸着カラムを用いた体外循環治療効果の検討を行っており、同手法でラット小腸虚血再灌流障害に行う予定である。
