前立腺癌組織内におけるMCP-1の発現と腫瘍関連マクロファージの浸潤は癌の悪性度のみならず前立腺癌治療後のPSA再発に関連することが示された。去勢抵抗性前立腺癌では血管新生の亢進に関連したアンギオテンシンII 1型受容体(AT1R)が高発現していることが知られている。本研究において、降圧剤であるAT1R阻害剤がMCP-1の発現やマクロファージの浸潤を抑制し得ることが示され、その中でもPI3K/Aktシグナル伝達系が重要な分子機構のひとつであることが判明した。
