従来の接着培養法による歯髄幹細胞の分離方法では、前駆細胞など他の細胞が混入する可能性があり、歯髄幹細胞の本質を解明することや再生医療への応用に限界がある。そこで、われわれは高純度の歯髄幹細胞を予期的に分離する手法の確立を目指し、ヒト歯髄幹細胞特異的なマーカーの同定を行った。CD271およびCD90が、フローサイトメトリーを用いてヒト歯髄から高純度の歯髄幹細胞を分離するために、有効なマーカーであることが明らかになった。この情報は、歯髄幹細胞が再生医療に効果的に用いられるために重要であると考える。
