生体には強力な生理活性を持つ低分子代謝産物が存在し, これらの異常な増減は重篤な疾患を惹起するために, その局所産生と拡散の実態解明は重要である. しかし, これまでに汎用的な低分子-局在解析の技術基盤はなかった. 本研究では, イメージング質量分析を中心にこの技術基盤を確立した. さらにマウス脳梗塞モデルに適用し, 代謝産物群の局所動態を網羅的に画像化した. その結果, 梗塞巣で特異的に亢進するグルコース代謝経路を同定し, この代謝異常が局所病巣から空間的に拡大する動態を可視化する事ができた.
