サイズおよび組成を制御した複合ナノクラスター触媒の合成のため、15マイクロメートルの微小流路を有するマイクロフローリアクターを開発した。従来のバッチ式反応では、Pd比の増加に伴ってサイズが増大してしまうのに対して、本手法ではAu/Pd比に関わらず、1.2 nm程度のナノクラスターの合成に成功した。これを触媒として用い、アルコールの空気酸化反応に対する活性の組成依存性を評価した結果、Pd比20-40%において、活性が増大することを明らかにした。この高い活性は、PdからAuへの電子移動によるものであることを電子分光測定から明らかにした。 Ultra fine microfluidic reactor with 15 micrometer mixing channels was developed for fine synthesis of binary nanocluster catalysts with well-controlled size and chemical composition. In contrast to a wide variety of size of AuPd nanoclusters prepared by batch reactions, highly monodisperse, ultra-small (1.2 nm) AuPd nanoclusters were synthesized by the microfluidic reactor regardless of their compositions. These nanoclusters show catalytic activity for aerobic oxidation of alcohols under ambient conditions. The nanoclusters show maximum activity at Pd composition of 20 - 40%, which originates from high electron density on active Au site through electron donation from Pd based on electronic spectroscopy.
