本研究は、超流動ヘリウム4に対して静電場と静磁場を用いて「人工ゲージ場」を生成する方法を提案・実証し、超流動の新しい物理を開拓するものである。超流動体では電場・磁場・流れ場に「交差相関」の存在が予想され、例えば静電場Eと静磁場Hを直角に与えるとE×Hに比例する超流動速度vsが生じうる。これを実験的に検証することを目標として掲げた。研究期間内に、超流動流検出用捻れ振り子の製作、回転クライオスタットの開発と、ナノ多孔体中4Heへの電場効果の探索を行った。今後これらの装置により、電場・磁場でつくられる超流動流を、超流動ヘリウム特有の音波である第二音波のドップラーシフトにより検出することを試みる。 This work aims at producing an artificial gauge field in superfluid 4He by static electric and magnetic fields. In neutral superfluids one may expect cross-correlation effects of electric, magnetic, and superflow fields (E, H, vs): e.g. vs is produced by E x H. In order to study such cross correlation effects, we have constructed a rotating cryostat in which electric and magnetic fields can be applied under rotation of the apparatus, and a torsional oscillator device for detection of superfluidity. We try to detect superflow induced by E x H using the Doppler shift of superfluid second sound.
