コヒーレントX線回折顕微鏡法は、レンズが不要なイメージング手法であり、X線自由電子レーザーの持つ強度と空間コヒーレンスの両方を活用することで、結晶化が原理的に不可能または極めて困難な巨大分子・粒子やその集合体などの構造解析に適用できるものと期待されている。本研究では、将来的な分子構造解析の可能性の検討、データ処理や構造解析の新しい方法の提案を行って、結晶化が困難な粒子の構造解析の理論およびソフトウエア基盤構築を試みた。 Coherent X-ray diffraction imaging is a lens-less imaging technique that can visualize the structures of non-crystalline particles with micro- to sub-micrometer dimensions in particular using coherent and intense X-ray pulses provided by X-ray free electron laser. In this research project, we developed theories on three-dimensional images of non-crystalline particles and data processing techniques toward molecular imaging in the future.
