Musashi1は神経幹細胞に特異的に発現し、その維持・増殖に関与するタンパク質である。脳腫瘍の増殖にも関与することから、Musashi1遺伝子の発現制御解析は重要であったが、明らかにされてはいなかった。本研究において、我々は神経幹細胞におけるMusashi1遺伝子の転写促進に、Rfx4が関与することを明らかにした。本研究成果は、神経幹細胞の維持に、繊毛形成を制御する転写因子、Rfx4が関与することを示唆している。 Musashi1 is specifically expressed in neural stem/progenitor cells and involved in their maintenance and proliferation. Because Musashi1 also plays a role in glioma cell growth, the analysis of transcriptional regulation of Musashi1 gene is important, however, the regulatory factor has been unclear. In this study, we showed that the transcription factor Rfx4 promote the transcription of Musashi1 gene. Our results suggest that the ciliogenic Rfx4 transcription factor regulates the maintenance of neural stem/progenitor cell.
