冷戦終結, とりわけソ連・東欧の社会主義体制崩壊が北朝鮮の政治体制に与えた影響について, 新資料と従来資料の照合作業で検証を進めた。北朝鮮には軍が国家の礎であるとの考え方があったものの, 「先軍政治」を掲げるようになった直接的な契機は冷戦終結にあった, というのがこれまでの研究で得られた知見であり, 本研究を通じて冷戦終結が北朝鮮の政治体制に決定的な影響を及ぼしたと結論付けられた。 This study focused on how the end of the Cold War, particularly the collapse of socialism in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, affected North Korea's political system. The analysis compared newly obtained data with previously available documents. My argument is that North Korea's adoption of the Songun Idea as a political slogan was directly triggered by the end of the Cold War, although there had always been a belief that the military was the backbone of the country. In short, the end of the Cold War had a decisive impact on North Korea's political system.
