公共図書館の医療・健康情報サービスを適切にデザインするための知見を得ることを目的に, 医療・健康情報サービスの現状調査を行ない, アクションリサーチによりサービス普及を試行した。がん相談支援センターとの連携によるサービスには可能性があり, 大規模図書館を中心にサービスは普及しはじめているが, 実施自治体は公共図書館設置自治体の2割に達しておらず, 普及に向けて多くの課題があること, 特に公共図書館員に関連知識・技能の修得機会を提供する必要のあることが明確になった。 A series of library visits and a survey were conducted and an action research was engaged in in order to get an idea for designing health information service of a public library. Results suggest that cooperation with cancer patient support centers is promising for health information service in public libraries. Also results show that while the service has gradually been provided by more and more public libraries, the provision rate has yet reached only below 20 per cent. There are still a lot of problems needed to be solved for developing the service. Especially urgent are opportunities for gaining the proper knowledge and skills of health information service.
