本研究は, これからの成長地域である東南アジアにおける日本企業, 中国企業, 韓国企業の経営形態を比較することによって, 当該地域で競争優位を構築するために必要なビジネスモデルを明確化することが目的である。そのため, 東南アジア地域における日本, 中国, 韓国企業の競争状況を概観した後, 日本企業はホンダ, 中国企業はハイアール, 韓国企業は政府主導の韓流を取り上げ, 東南アジア地域における具体的な企業活動についてのケース研究を行った。これらの事例研究を通して, 企業の競争優位性は組織の能力やケイパビリティからもたらされているものと捉えられ, 第II部において能力やケイパビリティの概念, およびそれらを測定する尺度について検討した。さらに, 日本企業を対象に組織能力やケイパビリティをアンケート調査によって分析した結果を論述し, 日本企業の競争優位をもたらしている組織要因とそれらの相互関係を明らかにした。中国企業, 韓国企業に関する実態調査は課題として残されているものの, 今後の調査研究によって詳細に検討し, 日中韓それぞれの企業の競争優位をもたらしている組織能力の比較研究を試みたい。
