ショウジョウバエ卵巣由来培養細胞(OSC)において, piRNA前駆体をin situ hybridizationで検出した結果, flam bodyと命名した顆粒状構造体が存在することを報告した(Murota et al. Cell Reports 2014)。flam bodyは, piRNA生合成関連蛋白質群が局在するYb bodyと隣接して存在していた。また, Ybの機能消失によってflam bodyも消失することから, flam bodyとYb bodyはpiRNA生合成過程でなんらかの相互作用をすることが示唆された。 In Drosophila ovarian somatic cells (OSCs), we discovered a cytoplasmic granular body named as flam body, where piRNA precursors accumulate (Murota et al. Cell Reports 2014). flam body is closely localized and partially overlapped with Yb body. Disruption of Yb expression in OSCs abolished flam body signals, suggesting that flam body and Yb body are interacted with each other in the process of piRNA biogenesis.
