MRI法により霊長類の乳児期から思春期までの前頭前野を中心とする脳構造の発達変化を分析し, 前頭前野を中心とする脳構造の発達様式の霊長類共通の特徴, ホミノイド的特徴, 母親以外の家族も子育てを行う霊長類の特徴, ヒト固有の特徴を明らかにした。これらの特徴は, 脳システムの進化的変化に関連していることが示唆された。主な研究成果として, 3本の学術論文(Sakai et al., Neuroscience Research, 2017 ; Sakai et al., PLOSONE, 査読中), 2本の著書を執筆し, 4題の招待講演を発表した。さらに, 2015年にはプリマーテス研究会で優秀口頭発表賞を受賞した。 In this study, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), I tracked the developmental patterns of the brain structures during infancy and the juvenile stage in common marmosets, chimpanzees, and humans. Through a comparison of the brain development among three primates, we clarified common features in marmosets, chimpanzee, and humans (primate -shared features), common features in chimpanzees and humans (hominoid-shared features), common features in marmosets and humans (allomothering-shared features), marmoset-specific features, chimpanzee-specific features, and human-specific features. As main research results of this study, I wrote two peer-reviewed papers (Sakai et al., Neuroscience Research, 2017 ; Sakai et al., PLOSONE, peer-reviewed), 2 books and conducted the presentations in the meeting and symposiums as 4 invited lectures. Moreover, in 2015, I received the excellent oral presentation award by the 60th Primates Workshop.
