本研究は, 日本に特有な福祉レジームと日本国内の地域によって異なる産業構造が, 移民の労働市場での地位にどのような影響を及ぼすかを明らかにすることを目指した。福祉レジームの効果については, アメリカ, スウェーデン, 日本の3カ国比較を行うことで, 移民女性の労働市場参加が, その国の福祉レジーム(日本の場合は男性稼ぎ主を重視する家族主義レジーム)に大きく左右されることが明らかになった。日本国内の地域の産業構造については, 移民の失業に及ぼす影響を検討したところ, 輸出指向の強い自動車, 電子部品の製造業の集積地域であるほど, 移民の失業率が高いことが分かった。 This study aims to explore the ways in which labor market outcomes among immigrants depend on welfare regimes and industrial structures of local labor marekts. To identify the linkage betweeen welfare regimes and socioeconomic outcomes among immigrants, we compare labor force participation of immigrant women across the three countries with different institutional settings, such as Japan, Sweden and the United States. What we found in this study is that the labor force participation of immigrant women is reflected by the familialistic welfare regime which is characterized as the male breadwinner model. Turning to the results concerning the effect of industrial structures of local labor markets, it is shown that immigrants' unemployment increased in the place with a larger concentration of manufucaturing industries with higher export orientation.
