ドイツ経済思想は, 一時期は重要な経済学的言説であった。少なくとも, 第一次世界大戦の勃発までは, ドイツの経済学は, 世界に冠たるドイツが誇る, 世界に冠たる経済思想であり, 多くの外国人がそれを学ぶためにドイツに向かった。慶應義塾大学で塾長をつとめた小泉信三もその一人である。本研究は, ドイツ経済思想の生成, 影響, そして消滅をフォロウしようとするものであり, それを通じて, 国民国家と経済思想がある程度密接なかかわりをもって展開された時期の特質を探ることが企図されている。前記, 小泉の述懐にもあるように, 当時の日本人学者にとっては, グスタフ・シュモラーの講義を聴くことは, 外遊談として重要な自慢話の一部であった。問題は, このようなドイツ経済思想の優位がいかなる理由で, そしていつ崩されていったかである。1939年のヒックスの『価値と資本』の刊行によって, いわゆる新古典派的な経済思想の確立は確実となった。それによって, ドイツ経済思想の一翼だと考えられるオーストリア学派の系譜の背景への後退は否定できない事実となる。また, このような経済学の内部的発展の話とは独立の問題として, 戦後のパックス・アメリカーナも, ドイツ経済思想の退潮の原因として否定することのできない外的な要因である。このような諸要因によって, 第二次大戦後の経済思想は, 表面的には「国際的」な, しかしその実は北米を中心とした経済思想に支配されることになる。 Before the outbreak of the WWI, German economic discourses remained important. Many overseas students went to Germany to study the first-rate economics at that time in Germany. Among them was Shinzo Koizumi, who was later nominated the President of Keio University. This study aims to follow the making, influences and fade-out of the German economic discourses, thereby tracing the characters of economics where there had been an intimate relationship between economic discourses and nation-states. As Koizumi wrote in an entry of his diary, it was important to visit Schmoller's course at Berlin University, even if the student was not a good friend of the German Historical School. The problem is : Why did it fade out? With the publication of the Value and Capital in 1939, the neoclassical economics came to the forefront of the economic analysis. This caused a serious decline of the Austrian School of Economics, a part of the German economic discourses. At the same time, the postwar period is known as the age of Pax Americana. This, again, made the presense of German economics much smaller than before. Due to these different reasons, one embedded in the development of economics, the other, rather external, contributed to the fade-out of the local economic discourses including the German economics.
