本研究の目的は, 1分間に両手で1208回叩くドラム早叩きの世界ギネス記録の突破にチャレンジすることを通じて, ヒトの脳・神経・筋システムに備わった学習能力をテクノロジーの力で拡張し, 天賦の才能とも思える超絶技巧の運動学習を可能にするニューロフィードバック技術を開発することである。3年計画の1年目である本年度は, 以下1)〜5)の研究成果を得た。 1)脳波・筋電図データをもとに手指を高速で振動させる触覚フィードバックシステムを開発した。開発したシステムを用いてどれくらい高速でドラミングできるかプレ実験を行ったところ, 振動フィードバックによる他動運動ではあるが, 世界最速ドラマーのギネス記録を超える1分間に1250回以上叩くドラミング運動を実現することができた。 2)SFC倫理委員会への申請と受理上記の触覚フィードバックシステムを用いた運動学習実験を実施するための倫理申請書一式を作成し, SFC実験・調査倫理委員会に提出した。2018年3月付で実験計画の承認を得る事ができ, 2年目以降に計画している実験を遂行するための準備が整った。 3)日本体育学会第68回大会での招待講演日本体育学会第68回大会バイオメカニクス研究領域シンポジウム「『達人技』を科学する」にて招待講演を行った。「音楽の身体科学・神経科学でミュージシャンの超絶技巧に迫る」と題して, 熟練ドラマーの超絶技巧に関して研究発表を行った。 4)バイオメカニクス研究誌での総説発表バイオメカニクス研究誌22巻1号特集号に「楽器奏者の『力まない科学』 : ドラマーの身体運動制御の視点から」と題した総説論文を寄稿し, 超絶技巧を発揮する楽器奏者の身体運動制御機構について概説した。 5)ハンドパーカッション奏者の最速指タッピング運動と手指長の関係プロハンドパーカッション奏者3名, アマチュア奏者5名に対して最速ドラミング運動課題を実施し, ドラミング速度と手長の関係について調査した。結果として, 利き手のドラミング速度と手長には相関が見られず, 非利き手には相関が見られるという結果を得た。この結果は, 2018年6月に開催される日本人間工学会第59回大会にて発表予定である。 The purpose of this research project is to develop a neurofeedback system for learning virtuoso. As a model of virtuoso, we focus on fast drumming performance by the winner of a recent international contest to find the world's fastest drummer (WFD). Specifically, the WFD performed the record of 1208 beats per minute by hands. We aim to test whether we can break the world record by developing a feedback system to augment the ability of human motor learning. There are five research achievements during the first year of this project : 1) We developed a system to provide a tactile feedback that enabled fast drumming performance. The system detects motor set of users from electroencephalographic (EEG) and electromyographic (EMG) signals and provides rhythmic tactile vibration feedback to the hand. We tested how quickly we can tap a drum by using the vibration feedback system. We found that the system enabled the user to achieve very fast drumming performance such as more than 1250 beats per minute. 2) We submitted the experimental protocol to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC). In the protocol, we are planning to test how much the fast drumming skill is learned by the tactile vibration feedback. The protocol has been approved since March, 2018. 3) We presented our study on musician's virtuoso at the 68th Conference of Japan Society of Physical Education, Health, and Sports Sciences (JSPESS). The symposium was organized by the Japanese Society of Biomechanics (JSB). The symposium title was the "Science of Virtuoso." 4) We wrote a review research article on the drummer's virtuoso. It will be published on the Japanese Journal of Biomechanics in Sports and Exercise (JJBSE), Vol., 22, (1), 2018. 5) We performed an experiment to investigate the relationship between the drumming speed and hand length in percussionists. Three professional and five amateur percussionists participated in the experiment. We found that there was a significant correlation between the drumming speed of the non-preferred hand and the hand length. The result suggest that the faster drumming speed of the non-preferred hand might be related to the shorter hand length. The results will be presented at the 59th Conference of Japan Ergonomics Society (JES).
