• Note (General): type:text; 本研究では, キリシタン史料について刊本を中心として調査・研究を行なった。キリシタン史料としては一次史料である文書の研究が重要なのは言うまでもないが, 刊本については文書の情報がどのように伝わって印刷されたのか, またそれによってキリシタン時代の布教情報がヨーロッパにおいてどのように継承されていったのかを考察した。そのひとつの例として, ポルトガル人イエズス会士アントニオ・ヴィエイラ(一六〇八～九七)を取り上げることにした。彼は, 若い頃はポルトガル王室付きの聴罪司祭として, またポルトガルの外交官として活躍したが, 後半生はブラジルを中心に布教活動に従事している。同時に, 新キリスト教徒(ユダヤ教から改宗したキリスト教徒)であった彼にはユダヤ教の嫌疑があり, コインブラの異端審問所からたびたび訴追を受けている。一方, ヴィエイラは, すぐれた説教者として知られており, 多数の説教集を遺しているが, 彼の説教集にはフランシスコ・ザビエルをテーマとした『眠れるザビエル, 覚醒せるザビエル』(リスボン, 一六九四年)というものがある。ヴィエイラは, 来日したことはなく, インドに来たことさえないが, ザビエルのインド・日本布教に多大な関心を寄せている。これまで, 同書について関心がもたれることはほとんどなかったが, ザビエルの布教事業がヨーロッパに与えた影響を考えるうえでは重要な著作である。ポルトガルではヴィエイラ研究の蓄積はあるが, それが日本研究とは結び付いていない。同書は, ザビエルについての史料研究の基礎があって初めて理解できるものである。検討の結果, ヴィエイラは, ザビエルの書翰などの一次史料によってザビエルの事績を知ったのではなく, ザビエル伝などの刊本によって知ったと考えられる。現時点では, ヴィエイラのザビエル理解の検討に留まっているが, 今後はヴィエイラが利用した史料についてさらに検討したいと考えている。 In this research, I investigated about Christian historical materials mainly the book. It is said that it is important to research on documents that are primary historical documents, but it is also important to understand how the information of the documents was transmitted and printed on the subjects and how the propagation of information in the Christian era was inherited in Europe. As one example, I picked up the Portuguese Jesuits Antonio Vieira, S. J. (1608-97). He was active as a father confessor of the Portuguese royal family and as a diplomat of Portugal in his young days, but later he engaged in missionary activities mainly in Brazil. At the same time, he was a New Christian (a Christian who converted from Judaism) and he is under suspicion of Judaism and was frequently prosecuted by the Inquisition Office of Coimbra. Meanwhile, Vieira is known as an excellent preacher and has retained numerous preachers, and his preachers his books we see "Sleeping Xavier, Awakening Xavier" (Lisbon, 1694), with the theme of Francisco Xavier, S. J. (1506-52). Vieira has never come to Japan nor India, but he has keen interest in Xavier's Indian-Japanese missionary works. Until now there has been little interest in the book, but it is an important work in thinking the influence that Xavier's missionary work gave to Europe. In Portugal there are accumulations of Vieira studies, but that is not related with Japanese studies. However, this book can be understood with the foundation of research on historical documents about Xavier. Vieira did not get the knowledge of the results of Xavier missionary works by the primary historical documents such as Xavier's writing, but it is thought that he knew Xavier by the works of the others such as his biography. I have treated only understanding of Xavier by Vieira, but in future I would like to treat the materials used by Vieira.
