視神経脊髄炎の新規治療法の開発に必要な新しいモデル動物の確立を試み、ラットの2系統を樹立した。この他、視神経脊髄炎特異的自己抗体がアクアポリン4に結合した際に見られるアクアポリン4の内在化の分子機構の解明を試みた。その過程においてアクアポリン4のC末端ドメインに少なくとも３つのアクアポリン4内在化・細胞内輸送・分解に関与する配列が存在することを見出した。 We planed to establish new animal models for developing new therapy for neuromyelitis optica. In addition, we tried to elucidate a molecular mechanism for endocytosis of aquaporin-4 induced by binding of autoantibody called NMO-IgG. In this process, we found at least three amino-acid sequences responsible for endocytosis, intracellular trafficking, or degradation of aquaporin-4.
