本研究は「凍結された紛争」の誕生・存続のメカニズムを明らかにし、その発生の予防、解決可能性を検討することを目的とし、文献研究、現地調査などによって進められた。研究を通じ、凍結された紛争の解決に影を落とす歴史背景および歴史認識問題の深刻さが浮き彫りになった。また、大国の外交戦略の影響も重要である。例えば、旧ソ連圏の凍結された紛争は、ロシアのグランド・ストラテジーの中で固定化された現実があり、また、凍結された紛争の多くに冷戦構造や現在の「東西対立」の構造などが見られる。最後に、凍結された紛争が紛争当事国ならびに関係国の内政・外交に、ひいては国際政治に重層的な影響を与えることも明らかになった。 This study examined how "frozen conflicts" begin and continue, considered strategies for preventing their occurrence, and investigated the feasibility of implementing those strategies. The research found that failure to recognize the importance of the historical backgrounds of frozen conflicts is a major factor in preventing their resolution. The diplomatic strategies of major powers have important impacts, as well. For example, frozen conflicts originating in the former Soviet Union have been resolved by Russia's Grand Strategy; similarly, many frozen conflicts in the world began during either the Cold War or the subsequent East-West confrontation structure. Frozen conflicts have multilayered effects on both the internal and foreign affairs of the parties involved. These effects extend to nearby countries, and thus to international politics.
