交通ネットワークや電力系統のような大規模システムを制御・管理するための基礎理論構築に取り組んだ．大規模システムの記述に適した数理モデルとして，システム内部のエネルギーの増減を表現する消散不等式を採用し，安定性や外乱性能などの解析方法，さらに制御方策までを提案した．また，理論を応用し広く産業界で使われるモデル予測制御の超高速化と安定性保証でも成果を得た．さらに，研究過程で得た着想をもとに，人と機械の協調システムに対する「弱い制御」という新しい概念を提案した．その実現を与えたあと，エネルギー管理システムや航空管制システムへの応用展開まで取り組み成果を得た． This research project aims at developing fundamental theory for control and management of large-scale systems. The systems are expressed by the dissipation inequality. Then, the stability and control performance analysis of the large-scale systems has been performed, which contributes to reliable control-systems design. The project has also addressed the cooperative control problem for human-machine interactive systems and has presented a novel concept of "weak control". The concept has been realized in design problems of reliable energy management and air traffic control systems.
