喘息悪化に影響を与える因子は様々であるが、今回我々は食生活によって腸内細菌叢の変化が肥満を起こすのみならず、喘息合併患者の病態の難治化に影響を与えている可能性を考えて研究を行った。その結果獲得免疫が関与する肥満モデルマウスでは喘息の悪化を認めたが、自然免疫が関与するモデルマウスでは肥満よりはむしろ食事の餌の種類により病態が悪化することが明らかになった。そしてこれは腸内細菌の影響によるものであることを示した。この結果から食事の質（食物繊維の質や含有量など）が腸内細菌を介して2型自然リンパ球を中心とした気道の自然免疫に影響を与えて肺の好酸球性炎症、すなわち喘息を悪化させることが示唆された。 In this study, we investigated the possibility that changes in the intestinal microbiota due to dietary habits not only cause obesity but also affect the refractoriness of the condition in patients with asthma. As a result, we found that diet-induced obesity mimic adaptive immune response showed worsening of asthma, while innate immune response in mice showed worsening depending on the type of feed rather than obesity. This was attributed to the influence of intestinal bacteria. These results suggest that the quality of the diet (e.g., the quality and content of dietary fiber) affects the innate immunity of the airways, mainly type 2 innate lymphocytes, via the gut bacteria, and exacerbates eosinophilic inflammation of asthma.
