免疫系の中心を担うＴ細胞は、加齢や疾患に伴って機能不全（老化・疲弊）に陥ることが知られている。本研究では、次世代シーケンサーやバイオインフォマティクス等の先進技術を用いて、このメカニズムに関する解析を行った。その結果、抗腫瘍免疫を担うＣＤ８陽性T細胞が腫瘍内で疲弊化することに関わる遺伝子の候補を１つ発見することができた。 It has been widely recognized that T cells, which play a central role in the immune system, become dysfunctional with aging and diseases (termed "senescence" and "exhaustion", respectively). In this study, we analyzed this mechanism using advanced technologies such as next-generation sequencers and bioinformatics. As a result, we found one candidate gene that is involved in exhaustion of CD8-positive T cells, which are responsible for anti-tumor immunity, in tumors.
