再生医療は人類の健康に寄与する画期的治療であり、ヒューマンセキュリティの確保のために早期事業化が期待されている。本稿では文献調査と事例分析によって日本の再生医療の事業化における課題とベンチャー企業の事業化への取り組みを明らかにした。その結果、国による再生医療の安全性に関する指針が未整備であること、研究開発人材および、研究開発費の不足など、日本では事業化の課題が複数あることがわかった。これらの課題に対して、企業は公的プロジェクトを活用して開発費を補完しながら、大学を積極的に活用して対応していることがわかった。事例のJ-TECでは地元大学の研究者との産学連携によって基盤技術を整えた後、国内外の複数の大学と異なる分野で連携して研究開発を進め、製品の範囲を広げていた。またJ-TECは地元大学への寄付講座を開設して再生医療分野での専門人材の養成と横断的研究開発体制整備に向けて対応していた。
