本研究は、１６世紀フランスの作家であるフランソワ・ラブレーの一連の作品『ガルガンチュアとパンタグリュエル物語』における、同時代の建築の影響と作家の独自性を明らかにすることを目的としている。研究内容としては、ラブレーのテキストに描かれた建築物と同時代のものとの同定と、描写文体の調査との２つが主なものとなる。初年度となった２０１８年は、１６世紀フランスにおけるマルクス・ウィトルウィウス・ポッリオ『建築について』（紀元前１世紀）の建築理論書としての受容状況を概観した。特に1547年にジャン・マルタンによってフランス語に翻訳された版と、ギヨーム・フィランドリエのウィトルウィウス注解を中心に据え、それらのラブレー作品への影響を調査した。G.フィランドリエに関しては、国王およびその姉マルグリット・ド・ナヴァールに近しいジョルジュ・ダルマニャックに仕えたユマニストであり、2回目のイタリア旅行でラブレーと出会っている。彼のウィトルウィウスの著作をめぐるイタリアでの活動において関わった人物（教皇、ローマのアカデミーに属するユマニスト、フィリベール・ド・ロルム等）が、ラブレーのテキストに散見され、深く関係していることが明らかになった。さらに、ラブレーの庇護者ジャン・デュ・ベレーが仕えた国王フランソワ１世が、建築計画の段階から参与したフォンテーヌブロー宮殿の「フランソワ一世の回廊」および「ユリシーズの回廊」の図像プログラムと同時代の人文主義者との関係を調査した。 Nos recherches se proposent d'appréhender l'influence des monuments architecturaux créations architecturales contemporains sur les œuvres de François Rabelais et d'élucider l'originalité de l'auteur, d'une part en identifiant lorsque possible les références architecturales dans ses œuvres, d'autre part en nous penchant sur la recherche stylistique de ses descriptions. En 2019, première année de cette étude, nous avons passé en revue la réception au XVIe siècle en France de « De Architectura » de Vitruve, avant d'analyser la possibilité d'effets produits sur le texte rabelaisien de la traduction de Vitruve par Jean Martin en 1547 et de ses annotations par Guillaume Philandrier en 1544 et en 1552.
