• Note (General): type:text; 本プロジェクトの一年目は、戦後第二世代の作家であるランスマイアーとゼーバルトを研究した。プロジェクトの二年目は、アガンベンとディディ=ユベルマンを参照点として、記憶と証言の理論に取り組んだ。 三年目となる今年度は、ポスト冷戦時代の戦後像というテーマについて、日本とドイツの第二世代作家の比較を行った。日独の戦後を比較するという試みは、イアン・ブルマ『戦争の記憶—日本人とドイツ人』（1994年）やSusannne Kilian: Japan und Deutschland - Zwischen Schuld und Verantwortung（2012）がスタンダード文献として存在しているが、両者の論考は文学に焦点化しているわけではないので、文学研究から議論を深める余地が残されている。また、冷戦の終わりとともに多様化し、問題化し続けている戦後像に関して、日独を比較的に研究するという課題はほとんど手つかずのまま残されている。このような課題に取り組むにあたっては、純文学のみならず、娯楽文学や映画など、文化現象を広く視野にいれる必要がある。記憶は個々の作家の営為によってのみならず、集団的形成されてゆくからである。 以上のような視点から、本研究では、百田尚樹のベストセラー小説『永遠の０』（2006年）を日本の戦後第二世代作家による作品の実例としてとりあげて、比較文学的観点から—対象作品から批判的な距離を保ちつつ−−読解を行った。マスメディアやアーカイヴ、証言者というテーマが物語で主要な役割を果たすという点では、百田はドイツ語圏の第二世代作家（たとえばランスマイアーやゼーバルト）と共通する。また、第二次世界大戦と戦後社会を娯楽文学化するという意味で、百田は『朗読者』（1995年）のベルンハルト・シュリンクと共通する。とりわけ「親密なコミュニケーション」（ルーマン）に基づく感情化あるいは感傷化という手法において、百田とシュリンクは—イデオロギー的には対極的であるにも関わらず−−重なるところがある。両者のベストセラーがともに映画化され、映画台本としても成功を収めたのはこのような手法も関係すると考えられる。 In the first year of this research project, I studied post-war stories by Christoph Ransmayr and W. G. Sebald, authors from the second post-war generation in the German-speaking world. In the second year of the project, I constructed a theory of memory and testimony, referring especially to Giorgio Agamben and Georges Didi-Huberman, whose theoretical works are invaluable to research of German literature by writers of the second post-war generation who do not know the catastrophe of the Second World War from their own direct experiences. In the third year, I studied literature by writers of the second post-war generation in Germany and Japan, employing the method of comparative literature. Some studies in this field are already known as standards: Ian Buruma's The Wages of Guilty – Memories of War in Germany and Japan (1994) and Susanne Kilian's Japan und Deutschland – Zwischen Schuld und Verantwortung (2012). But there is plenty of room for further research from the viewpoint of comparative literature, as literary works are not a primary focus of Buruma and Kilian. Furthermore, it is not difficult to identify a new phenomenon in this field; we can easily observe that the way post-war society is depicted has diversified since 1989. This is true not only of high-quality literature but also of entertainment, popular literature, and cinema. For memory is not simply an individual phenomenon; it is a product of social processes as well. Adopting the above viewpoint, this research dealt with the bestselling novel The Eternal Zero (2006) by Naoki Hyakuta as an example of a literary work by a Japanese writer of the second post-war generation. As in the stories of Ransmayr and Sebald, mass media, archives, and testimony play a key role in Hyakuta's novel. Furthermore, The Eternal Zero parallels Bernhard Schlink's bestselling novel The Reader (1995): both create entertainment from the catastrophe of the Second World War. In addition, the poetics of feelings and emotions based on "intimate communication" (Niklas Luhmann) is common to both works, although their political positions are completely opposite. This poetics is one of the reasons that Hyakuta's and Schlink's bestsellers have been adapted for movies.
