• Note (General): type:text; 遭遇した人物を、別の既知人物として誤同定してしまう「人違い」現象の性質を明らかにするために、コンピュータ画面上に材料を提示して行う実験室実験と、日常的な空間内で実際の人物を見てもらって行うフィールド実験を行った。 実験室実験では、未知人物に対する既知感が既知人物としての同定を促す、という仮説の検証を試みた。実験参加者は、コンピュータ画面上で数字を読み上げる課題を行いながら、画面の数カ所に時々提示される顔から有名人の顔を選ぶ課題を行った。この時提示される顔の大部分は未知人物の顔であるが、そのうち半数は、あらかじめ閾下で参加者に提示された（プライミングされた）ものであった。未知人物を見て有名人であると反応した場合を人違いとした。人違い反応は、プライミングの有無にかかわらず生起したが、閾下提示が既知感を上昇させたことを示す結果も得られなかった。閾下提示の条件を変更して再度実験を行う予定である。 フィールド実験では、人違いを促進する条件の解明を目指した。実験参加者は、教室で短時間話をし、心理実験への参加を依頼したゲストスピーカーと研究室の玄関で待ち合わせをしたが、待ち合わせの場所では同じ服を着た別の人物か全く異なる服を着ているが容貌が似ている別の人物のいずれかが待っていた。一定時間、参加者から待っていた人物に声をかけるかを待ち、その後、待っていた人物をどう思ったか、などの質問項目に回答してもらった。その結果、66名の実験参加者のうち18名が待っていた人物を待ち合わせをした人物と誤って声をかけたほか、声はかけなかったが少なくとも一瞬待ち合わせた人物だと思った参加者は多数にのぼった。ただし、服が同じ条件と容貌が似ている条件の間に差は見られなかった。このことから、人違いの生起には服装や容貌の類似よりも、特定の人物が待っているという期待や状況が人違いを引き起こしていることが示唆された。 To examine the nature of "person misidentification phenomenon" where one misidentifies an encountered person as another known person, we conducted a lab experiment presenting stimulus people on PC displays and a field experiment in everyday environment where participants observed real persons. In the lab experiment, we examined a hypothesis that familiarity to unfamiliar persons facilitated misidentifications as familiar persons. Participants were required to find celebrities from the faces that were sometimes displayed one by one in certain places on a PC display while engaging in a task to read the numbers displayed continuously in the center of the display. Most of the displayed faces were unknown and the half of them were subliminally displayed to the participants before the task, i.e., primed. A response to call an unknown person as a celebrity was counted as a misidentification. Although misidentifications occurred to some extent, priming had no effects. Because the priming did not increase the familiarity to the unknown faces, another experiment with longer and more frequent subliminal presentation of the unknown faces are planned. In the field experiment, the purpose was to explore the conditions that facilitated person misidentification. The participants came to an entrance hall of a laboratory building to meet a person who had given a short talk in their class and asked them to participate in his psychology experiment, but a different person with same clothes or another different person with quite different clothes and similar looks (stimulus person) was waiting for them there. The stimulus person waited for a certain time for the participant speak to him. Then, the participant was asked if she/he had thought that the stimulus person was the person whom she/he was to meet or not and some other questions. Eighteen among the 66 participants spoke to the stimulus person thinking that he was the person they were to meet, and many of the participants who did not speak to the stimulus person thought that he was the one at least for a moment. There was no difference between the same clothes and similar looks in facilitating person misidentification. These results might suggest that the expectation that the person is waiting for one and the circumstances rather than similarity of the clothes or looks cause person misidentification.
