本研究の目的は、現存の社会を前提にした従来の多文化主義理論から一歩下がり、理念から多文化主義の別の形、あり方、可能性を検討することであった。本研究は、多文化主義のテーマをあつかった学会に参加すること、研究発表の準備をすること、そして論文執筆・提出をすることで成果をあげてきた。本研究期間において執筆した論文は、本研究のテーマをより具体化したものを題材にし、リベラルな多文化主義が一見多文化主義の理念とは矛盾する可能性をつくりだしていること、またコスモポリタンな多文化主義との融合がその問題を解決をする一助になることを論じている。本論文は、現代政治哲学分野において権威のある英語圏のジャーナルに提出済みで、現在査読中である。また本研究の成果を学会発表という形でも公表していくべく、本研究期間にプロポーザルを提出し、結果、来年度の政治思想学会で発表をする機会を得ることもできた。さらに、研究成果を学術発表・論文以外の形でも公表すべく、本研究テーマをあつかった短編小説を提出していたが、今回はリジェクトされてしまった。しかし、その経験から得るものは多く、今後の研究に活かしていくヒントを得たと確信している。また本研究で得られた知見は、来年度出版予定の教科書や事典の章でも活かされ、さらに担当予定の授業にも活かしていく予定である。また本研究のおかけで予期せぬところでも相乗効果があった。多文化主義の問題から専門のジョン・ロックの研究とつながりを見出すことができ、その結果、短時間でロックと多文化主義に関連する問題でふたつの論文を執筆することができた。現在それらの論文はそれぞれ英語圏における政治理論のトップ・ジャーナルで査読中である。以上、研究年度内に業績を出版するまでには至らなかったが、大きな弾みをつけることができたという意味で本研究は成功したと認識している。 The aim of my project was to reconsider existing liberal multicultural theories from a more idealistic perspective. Related to this project, I wrote three papers - two of which are spin-off papers - and are currently under review at top-ranked journals in the field. Also during this academic year, I submitted a proposal to give a paper at the annual conference of the Japanese Conference for the Study of Political Thought. The proposal was accepted and I will be giving this paper in May 2019.
