• Note (General): type:text; 街中などでたまたま見かけた人を知人だと思ったが、声をかけてみるとまったくの他人だった、といった経験をすることがある。われわれの以前の研究では、人はこのような人違いを、平均すると少なくとも年に数回程度は経験していることがわかっている。本研究ではこのような人違いの生起要因を探るために実験を行なった。大学生の被験者130名は、受講する授業のゲストスピーカーとして20代の男性（以下、ターゲット）の講演を聞いた。話の最後にターゲットは心理実験への参加を依頼しリクルート表を配布、回収した。電子メールで実験参加日時の調整を行い、待ち合わせ場所を指定したが、当日待ち合わせ場所では、体型、顔がターゲットと似ている人物A、あるいは体型は類似しているが顔は似ていない人物Bのいずれかが、講演時と同じスーツを着て、あるいはカジュアルなシャツとパンツを着て待っていた。待ち合わせ人物（A、B）は原則として被験者から声をかけられるのを待っていた。実験室に誘導し、待ち合わせ人物をターゲットだど思ったかどうか、待ち合わせ人物とターゲットが顔、髪型、体型、服装に関してどの程度似ていたかなどについて回答を求め、個人特性を測定する課題を課した。 結果は現在分析中ではあるが、待ち合わせ場所で待ち合わせ人物を見かけてから会話を始めるまでの間に短時間でも待ち合わせ人物をターゲットだと思った被験者は、人物Aのスーツ条件で70%、カジュアル条件で67%、人物Bのスーツ条件で16%、カジュアル条件で31%であった。ある程度容姿を見知っている人と待ち合わせをする、という限定された条件ではあるが、顔、髪型、体型が似ていれば服装に関わらず高い頻度で人違いが生起すること、髪型、体型が似ていても顔が似ていないと人違い生起の率は大幅に下がること、この場合には服装が人物同定の手がかりとして利用されていることが明らかになった。今後、視覚的判断に関する個人特性と人違い生起の関連について分析を行う予定である。 We sometimes happen to see a person on the street and consider the person an acquaintance, but when we call out, she/he is completely a stranger. Our previous study shows that people experience such a misidentification on average at least several times a year. In this study, we conducted an experiment to examine conditions for the misidentifications to happen. A hundred and thirty university students listened to lectures by a man in his 20s (hereafter, target) as a guest speaker in the classes they attend. At the end of the lecture, the target requested participation in a psychological experiment and distributed and collected a recruiting sheet. The date and time of participation in the experiment were adjusted by e-mail, and the meeting place was specified. At the meeting place on the day, a person A whose body shape and face were similar to the target, or a person B whose body shape was similar but whose face was not similar. Either waited in the same suit as the target, or in a casual shirt and pants. The person (A, B) was in principle waiting to the subject to speak to. The subjects were guided to the laboratory and asked if they thought the waiting person was the target, how much the person and the target resembled in terms of face, hairstyle, body shape, and clothing. The subjects who thought that the person was the target even for a short time between seeing the person at the meeting place and starting the conversation were 70% in the suit condition, 67% in the casual condition of person A, 16% in the suit condition, and 31% in casual condition of person B. It is in a limited condition to meet with someone who knows the appearance to some extent, but if the face, hairstyle, and body shape are similar, a high frequency of misidentification will occur regardless of clothes. If the faces are not similar, it is clear that the rate of occurrence of misidentification is greatly reduced even if the hairstyle and body shape are similar, and in this case, clothes are used as clues for identifying the person. In the future, we plan to analyze the relationship between personal characteristics related to visual judgment and the occurrence of misidentification.
