• Note (General): type:text; これまで経済システムの構造変化を検出する線型時系列モデルの開発と応用に多くの力を注いできた．具体的には，動学的計量経済モデルのパラメータが時変するとして経済や金融のデータから推定することを，正規分布に基づくショックをもつ状態空間モデルに帰着させて遂行し成果を収めた．金融市場の市場効率性が時変することを適切に示せた．しかし，その接近法では構造変化が生じた時点を特定化することは極めて難しかった．この度，近年注目を集めているビッグデータ関連のデータ解析で使われるスパース性にもとづく回帰分析を大胆に時系列解析に応用したモデルの開発を行った．これまでの研究でも採用してきた，一般的な枠組みとして線型状態空間モデルを再び採用し，いかなる大規模かつ長期時系列にも対応することができるようにした．より詳細に記すならば，スパース性回帰モデル解法としてしばしば使われるthe least absolute shrinkage and select operator (LASSO)を採用して，非常にまれな構造変化のみが方程式の解として求まる形式の方程式と元々の線型状態空間方程式を一対一に対応させる変換を見つけた．この変換は極めて一般的であり，多変量自己回帰モデルの時変パラメータをスパース推定することを可能にする．この枠組を，すでに海外査読誌に発表している自らの構造変化特定の論文のデータに適用して，構造変化時点が遥かに鋭敏に検出されること，さらにその結果が仮説検定における有意水準設定やLASSO解法適用時の超パラメータの設定に依存しないことを確認した． 以上の研究成果を，2019年6月末から7月初頭にカリフォルニア州サンフランシスコで開催されたWestern Economic Association Internationalの第94回年次大会において，"An Estimation Method for State Space Models using generalized LASSO Techniques"として発表した．この論文は，参加した数多くの研究者との活発な議論を喚起した． I have developed linear time series models enabling us to detect structural breaks in our economy for years; I also have applied the models to economic and financial data. Practically, supposing that dynamic econometric models' parameters vary over time, I have estimated them by regarding such models as linear state-space models with Gaussian noises. The approach was successful when we study whether the market efficiency breaks or not according to exogenous shocks. However, it does not always teach us accurate breakpoints. In this project, I developed a method that allows us to detect breakpoints accurately by applying sparse regression analyses for so-called bigdata to the linear state-space models that I have used in my research, as referred above. The method can treat any linear model for bigdata when one wants sharply detected breakpoints. In practice, I found a transformation from a linear state-space model to an equation system that provides solutions with few differences each other, adopting the least absolute shrinkage and select operator (LASSO). The method can detect scarce breakpoints for many time series models, such as conventional vector autoregressive (VAR) models. Applying the technique to the frameworks in my articles already published in refereed journals, I confirmed the two points: breakpoints are sharply detected, and the result has the robustness in the sense that it is independent of settings of hyperparameters for the LASSO technique. I reported the above result entitled "An Estimation Method for State Space Models using generalized LASSO Techniques," in the 94th annual meeting of Western Economic Association International held at San Francisco, California, USA, June 29, 2019. The discussion with the audience at the conference was fruitful. It will help me to revise the current version of my paper for the near future submission.
