• Note (General): type:text; 本研究の目的は、大衆甘味社会が成立する要因の考察にある。対象とする時代を、明治後期（1870年代）から昭和後期（1970年代）に絞り、間食大衆社会の台頭する約100年の変化を解明する。大人から子どもへ消費者が移ったこと、和菓子から洋菓子へと嗜好が変化したこと、家内制手工業から工場制機械工業へと生産体制が様変わりしたこと、洋菓子は当初健康食として普及したが後に子どもの健康を害する加工食品として問題視されるようになったこと、合理化する世の中で贈り物として持つ機能が見直されていったことなどを取り上げる。これにより、近代化する社会において、菓子が日常生活にいかにして根を下ろし、人間関係をいかに規定するに至ったのかを浮き彫りにする。本年度では、単著 "Sweets and Snacking in Modern Japan"の刊行に向け、１次資料の最終的な収集と原稿執筆に従事した。１次資料に関してだが、国会図書館所蔵の資料を中心に、明治・大正・昭和時代の本・雑誌・新聞・論文を収集・分析した。新型コロナウィルス拡大の影響で、東京館の利用人数が著しく制限されたため、制限措置のない関西館に２度足を運ぶことで研究を継続し、単著の最初の3章（近世・明治～大正・昭和初期）に該当する原稿を書き上げた。また、菓子と子どもの歴史的関係性を問題にした論文を国際ジャーナルに掲載することができた。 The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that led to the establishment of a society infatuated with sweets and snacks. It focuses on the period from the late Meiji era (1870's) to the late Showa era (1970's), elucidating the changes that led to the rise of a nation of sweets lovers. How the main consumers shifted from adults to children, preferences changed from Japanese confectionery to Western confectionery, and production industrialized are some of the questions this research poses. This year, the recipient engaged in the final phases of research in preparation for writing the book "Sweets and Snacking in Modern Japan". Much of the research carried out involved the collection and analysis of books, magazines, newspapers and articles from the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods, most of which were housed in the National Diet Library. Due to the spread of coronavirus, restrictions in place on the number of people allowed to use the Tokyo chapter made it necessary to travel twice to the Kansai chapter instead, where most of the primary research was conducted. As a result, the recipient was able to complete the first three chapters of the monograph. It is hoped that the book will be completed by June. Furthermore, the recipient was able to publish a peer-reviewed article in an international journal that explored the the historical relationship between sweets and children.
